I have meet people who agree and disagree that you gain a small amount of total health from healing damage.

As new player I thought I could play for free, and spent a lot of time on Thule trying to sweat the mobs there, and standing around while I regenerated health.

I was standing doing nothing and gained a point of health. So next time I was close to getting a point of health, I died repeatedly by climbing rocks and jumping off, so no skill gain. It took a number of deaths, but I did go up another point in total Health.

But it appears to be a tiny amount, so I have tried to calculate it after about a year of play. Here are the relevant skills I have and their contribution to total Health. If a skill that contributes to Health is not listed, I don’t have it yet

    Skill________________________Health at____________________My skill

    Agility______________________40__________________________47

    Intelligence_________________80__________________________48

    Psyche_____________________80__________________________39

    Strength___________________20__________________________40

    Combat reflexes_____________1600________________________1361

    Handgun___________________1600________________________1330

    Melee Combat_______________533.3_______________________1046

    Rifle_______________________1600________________________1368

    Weap. Handling______________1600________________________912

    Athletics____________________533.3_______________________1543

    Courage____________________320_________________________1267

    Dexterity___________________800 _________________________1528

    Perception__________________1600________________________1634

Based on my skill levels, I should have gained 18.84 points for a total Health of 106.84

My actual total health is 108.2, a difference of 1.36

I am a unarmored swunter, and as such I take considerable damage compared to other play styles. So for most players the Health Gain for healing would be barely noticeable.

So yes it seems some total health is gained from healing damage, but the amount is so small as to not matter to most players.

I find that rather interesting, because I've asked in the past how to gain HP and what all affects the gaining of HP. I'm kind of in a re-learning phase right now since joining the new Monria Team almost 2 yrs ago with DME, so still a lot to catch up on. I think using melee definitely add to the increase of your HP quicker than other things (if I recall correctly), and I also think I heard that mining adds a bit to HP too. Perhaps others will add to this thread and share their knowledge or experience.

Thanks for posting your information Sachem, all contributions add to the learning process for sure. :)

I edited the post to make it easier to read.

Yes melee does build Health quickly, due to the gain in Strength skill it gives.

My main goal was to determine if healing damage did contribute to total Health, and how much.

Yes it does, but the amount is small, but does help explain the variance seen in many peoples calculations on Health.

A number of skills add to hp.

go to entropiawiki: Skills and sort by hp, you can see which skills add to your hp. the number in the hp column is how many points in that skill for 1 hp.

Yes, that is where I got the info on my stats from. However the gain is calculated incrementally, not when a given value is reached, something I had to take into account.

I don't have a lot of the skills that contribute to health yet as I have not played that long, but it also made my calculations easier :)

This is good news for crafters as many of these skills are used in crafting

It is also good news for Monria, the crafting Moon, as it gives people even more reason to come to Monria.

It also make the Health gain from healing damage even more insignificant than it was before.

Thank you for posting the new information Sachem, it's really appreciated. It IS going to be good for the crafting on Monria, and it will be interesting to see how all of that goes.

    I love this community. :)
