Recommendations for Client Update Issues

For those participants experiencing issues updating the Entropia Universe client since the latest Version Update, please try the following remedies.
IMPORTANT NOTE - The Entropia Universe Client Loader is designed to run with normal user privileges. It is not recommended to launch the Client Loader with Administrator privileges.
If the Client Loader fails to start:

  1. Download the installer from http://www.entropiauniverse.com/download/ and execute it.
  2. Follow the installer instructions

If the Client Loader fails during the 'Checking for Updates' step or while downloading files:

  1. Download the latest Entropia Universe installer from http://www.entropiauniverse.com/download/ and execute it. During installation, you will be prompted to provide two folders. For the first folder, the installation folder, select a different folder to where you previously had the game installed. Make sure to select a folder where you have read/write access (i.e. not the Windows folder). For the second folder, the Planet Data t data, the installer should automatically find and fill in the folder where you have downloaded planet data before. Therefore, do not change this folder, but proceed with the installation.
  2. You should get a new shortcut on the desktop for the new Entropia installation. Make sure to execute this shortcut when launching the game. Do not launch the game as admin, but start it normally.
  3. The Client Loader should now download the files and you should be able to start the game.
If the Client Loader gets stuck at 95% and/or fails to start the EntropiaUpdater application:

  1. Make sure that your system's anti-virus software is not blocking EntropiaUpdater.exe or ClientLoader.exe.
If you have tried the remedies above and still have issues updating Entropia, or you have a different update issue covered here:

  1. Use the Windows Add/Remove Programs tool to uninstall Entropia Universe from your system.
  2. After uninstallation, ensure that the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Entropia Universe\ has been deleted. (Or, if you had originally installed Entropia Universe to an alternate location, ensure that the old installation folder is removed).
  3. Download the installer from http://www.entropiauniverse.com/download/ and execute it.
  4. Follow the installer instructions, taking care to select installation folders that the current system user has read/write access.
